Global courier takes one of the last remaining depots at South Kirkby

AWS have successfully negotiated the letting of the last remaining unit to Deltec international Couriers Ltd, who trade as Skynet Worldwide, on behalf of Yorkshire based developers Marshall, CDP.

Skynet Worldwide have 10 offices around the UK and operate worldwide and they have signed a new 9 year lease for the 13,600 sq ft depot.

AWS’s Nick Arundel added ‘it is great news that Skynet Worldwide are to open another branch and it was a pleasure to deal with an old colleague, Arnold Cronin of Cronin & Co, who acted on their behalf.

Our Joint Agents, Carter Towler were of great assistance as well.

The South Kirkby Business Park is attracting a lot of interest and we have just sold Unit 8 which is 20,000 sq ft and will be announcing more deals very shortly.

Hazel Cooper of Carter Towler added ‘despite the challenges brought about by the current Covid 19 situation, Marshalls CDP have made excellent progress with the speculative development on this Business Park. We are extremely pleased to see how the whole scheme is progressing’.

The site is within the Wakefield Enterprise Zone and the units attract financial incentives by way of rates saving but also it is possible for occupiers to obtain financial assistance via the LEP.

Construction on the next phase of the development will complete in January early 2021 and AWS have already found an occupier for the 20,000 sq ft unit and are close to a deal on both the 10,000 and 15,000 sq ft units although those are not as yet signed up. These units will be ready to occupy in January 2021 and further information can be obtained from AWS or their joint agents, Carter Towler.

We will shortly be commencing another phase on the development which will be ready by the end of the year.

Both Hazel and Nick agree demand for high quality modern, warehouse and distribution space in highly accessible locations continues to be strong across the region.

Chris Marshall of CDP concluded ‘we are grateful for everyone who has pulled together to make this scheme viable. We have received a grant from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to assist in financing development costs and infrastructure costs and we receive positive input and support from the Wakefield MDC’
