ASDA TAKE 38,000 SQ FT IN THE MINT

The food retailer has taken part of the ground floor, the first and second floors of this Grade A office development.

ASDA will be the first tenant in The Mint which is the latest office scheme in the extended Leeds City Centre, situated to the South of the River in the Holbeck Urban Village area.

The Mint comprises a total of 117,000 sq ft (10,873.6 sq m) of BREEAM excellent rated space.

It is understood that the Supermarket will be relocating its contact centre and accounts payable teams from their current location at Southbank to The Mint which will become a second location for ASDA House.

Colin Hayes, Chairman of Deltalord, comments “ we are pleased to welcome ASDA to The Mint and believe that this will provide a perfect location for their expansion. We have recently agreed a programme of environmental improvements with the Council which will see the area surrounding this development and the Holbeck Urban Village revitalized, creating enhanced green space”.

Nick Arundel of AWS Ltd is equally pleased with the transaction – “firstly it is fantastic news that a Leeds based Company is taking quality space from a Leeds based developer. Secondly, proving that the Leeds central business district extends beyond Park Square and City Square and reinforces the quality of locations, as well as the quality of the buildings, South of the River”.

Paul Fairhurst, Head of Savills Commercial in Leeds adds “this is the largest office deal in Leeds in the past 18 months and illustrates the renewed activity in the City’s letting market. With its City Centre location, a highly specified office space, The Mint provides a perfect location for ASDA”.

AWS Ltd and Savills are marketing the remaining 79,000 sq ft (7,342 sq m) at The Mint.
